Billings s future as a major trade and distribution center was basically assured from its founding as a railroad hub due to its geographic location. As Billings quickly became the region s economic hub it outgrew the other cities in the region. As a regional hub for Montana, Northern Wyoming, Western North Dakota, and trade, transportation, and utilities is a large employment sector. Located at the center or an array of farms and ranches, agriculture is a major industry in Billings.
