Lubbock is the county seat of Lubbock County, TX. The city is located in the northwestern part of the state, a region known historically and geographically as the Llano Estacado and ecologically is part of the southern end of the High Plains. The $22-billion agriculture industry is the primary industry in Lubbock, with cotton being the largest crop produced. Cotton production supports a host of related businesses, including gins, compresses, a denim plant, and several processing plants. The related bi-products are also produced in Lubbock such as oil for food, cottonseed meal for animal feed, and lint upholstery and paper.
