The largest employers in the Bismarck area are the State of North Dakota, Medical One Health Center, St. Alexis Medical Center, Bismarck Public School District, North Dakota Federal Offices, and BOBCAT/Ingersoll-Rand. With federal, state, and local government offices in Bismarck, government is the second largest employment sector. The largest is trade, transportation, and utilities; education and health services. Schuff Steel Company has selected Bismarck as the location for a possible wind tower manufacturing plant in a 200,000 square food facility on 70 acres that will employ between 250 and 300 people.
