Reno is the county seat and largest city of Washoe County in the state of Nevada. Named after Civil War Major General Jesse L. Reno, Reno is the 82nd largest city in the U.S with a population of 264,165 (U.S Census 2020). Reno is
home to several cultural institutions, like the Nevada Museum of Art (the only American Alliance of Museums accredited art museum in Nevada), and the National Automobile Museum which contains 200 cars from William F.
Harrah’s collection. In the summer, natives enjoy Lake Tahoe, the Truckee River, and Pyramid Lake and in the winter skiing and snowboarding attracts many tourists to the 18 different ski resorts available. Up until the 1960s, Reno was
the gambling capital of the U.S until it was replaced by Las Vegas. Today, gambling and tourism are vital to the city s economy.
